How does writing the story of you help you plan your job search and craft your resume? Nobody reads resumes for fun, so no love dramas, murder stories, or comedy. Job applications are a form of marketing and the better the pitch, the higher your chances. That’s why storytelling resumes are a controversial matter. Some recruiters stick to classic bullet-point resumes, while others appreciate creativity as a way to learn more about you. Read More
It's been a while since we gave you an update on Staff.com. We've been busy building new features and improvements. Here's some of what's new:
You're now able to group your users into, well, "Groups".
Once you've created a few groups on your Manage User Groups page, you'll have the option to select groups rather than users when choosing who you want included in reports. Your user selection drop-down on each report will look something like this:
You can create as many groups as you want, and users can be a part of multiple groups at the same time.
We have more planned for the Groups feature. If there are any changes or improvements you'd like to see, you can let us know by responding to this email.
Screen Capture Videos (AKA screenshots every second)
Are 3-minute screenshots of your employees' computers sometimes not sufficient? Our customers sometimes have a need to see more closely what an employee is doing. For these situations, we've built a feature that captures ongoing video recordings of your employees' monitors.
You can activate video recording for any user on your Manage Users page. Videos are taken at one frame per second.
Quit & Fire Predictions (beta)
We're super excited about predicting employee behavior using machine learning. We've been developing machine learning algorithms to extract insights out of the work data of about 26,000 users.
So far, we've managed to predict who is likely to quit or be fired, based on analysis of the work patterns of users who have quit or been fired in the past.
If you haven't seen the Predictions Report yet in your account, here's how it looks currently:
Expanding and improving our ability to predict employee behavior, and extracting further insights out of work data through machine learning are major areas of focus for us.
Keep in mind that this feature is still in beta. We're constantly improving the algorithms and updating the reports accordingly.
Is there anything else that you'd like us to predict, or insights that you'd like us to provide through Machine Learning, please let us know.
New User Default Settings
This feature solves a usability issue. Previously, after adding each new user to your account you'd have to manually adjust their settings to match what were often standard settings that you wanted to use across your company.
The "New User Default Settings" feature lets you choose the settings that will be automatically applied to new users, eliminating the need for manual edits afterwards. You can find these settings on your Manage Users page (you'll find the link in the upper right corner).
2-Factor Authentication (for security)
2-Factor Authentication (2FA) is an optional security feature we've added, which allows you to require a code from your mobile phone in addition to your password to access your Staff.com account:
2FA feature uses the Google Authenticator app which you'll need to install on your mobile device to use the feature.
Any user can activate 2FA for themselves on the new "Security" tab of their Edit Profile page.
A few other items
- The silent desktop app now auto-updates when we release new versions. If you installed it after June 2017 then you're already using the latest version which includes auto-updates. If you installed it prior to that date, please first uninstall the previous version, and then update the latest version from your Download page. The latest version will always auto-update. If you need any help updating the app, please let us know.
- Many other improvements & bug fixes
As always, we're always eager to hear your feedback. If you have any, you can leave a comment below, or email us at email@example.com.
Since we launched the new Staff.com 2 months ago, we've been busily making improvements. Here are a few of the most recent updates:
1 - New Report: Hours TrackedThe new Hours Tracked report shows who worked how much on which dates. The report is an expansion of the "Hours Tracked" widget in the upper left corner of your Team Dashboard. The report shows you:
- How many on-computer hours your team as a whole tracked during any week or month
- How many hours in total each person tracked during
- Trends in hours tracked over time.
2 - Desktop App: New interface for "Tasks" featureWe've released a new interface for the desktop app to match the look & feel of the website. The app interface will automatically update when the workstation restarts, or you can manually load the new interface by right-clicking anywhere on the window and selecting "Reload": If you're not using the "Projects & Tasks" feature, then the desktop app won't have any windows-style interface at all so this update doesn't apply.
3 - Active Directory CompatibilityThe Staff.com silent desktop app is now compatible with Windows Server and Active Directory. If you use Active Directory in your office, the silent app will automatically pull basic user data from Active Directory to make it easy to identify which user is which in your reports. That's it for this update. More coming soon...
Today we’re excited to announce the upcoming re-launch of Staff.com as an entirely new business: time analytics software for the workday. Starting on June 1, you'll be able to visit the new site at https://staff.com/ and sign up for a free trial of the time analytics software.
What about the old site?
In many ways, the former Staff.com was a success. We've had many happy customers and provided jobs for people around the world who may not have otherwise found work. We have become a customer service-oriented company. We had (and still have) a competent team of developers, salespeople, and marketers working on Staff.com. As Staff.com grew, we experimented with a few variations of the business model.Read More
